Welcome to the guide on how to use your escape room! In this post, I will walk you through the process of setting up and utilizing your escape room. By following these steps, you’ll be able to create an engaging, fun and interactive learning experience for your students.
Materials Needed

Manilla Envelopes
Tape or Glue
Scissors or Paper Cutter
Colored Paper (optional)
Laminator or Sheet Protectors (optional)
Step 1: Open Zip File
The escape room resources are provided in a zip file. Extract the contents of the zip file to access the files necessary for setting up the escape room.
Here’s a breakdown of the files:
File 0: Teacher instructions, brief task description and standards alignment, printing directions and student challenge.
File #1: Envelope labels.
File #2: Student booklet and worksheet.
File #3: Tasks and pieces for escape room
File #4: Google form link for students to check their answers.
File #5: Answer key.
File #6: Completion signs.

Step 2: Create Task Envelopes
If you choose to use manilla envelopes for your escape room, follow these steps to create them:
Open and print File #1 single-sided.
Cut the labels in half along the dotted line.
Tape or glue each task label to a manila envelope.
Step 3: Printing and Cutting the Tasks
Open File #3 and print the entire document single-sided. If desired, you can follow the printing directions in File #0 for detailed instructions for printing on colored paper.
Laminate each paper (optional.)
Cut out the parts of the tasks that require cutting as indicated on each task.
Organize the task pieces by securing them with a paper clip or a small labeled zip lock bag.
Step 4: Putting Everything Together
Gather the labeled envelopes, printed tasks, and corresponding pieces (if applicable).
Place each task and its corresponding pieces inside the labeled envelopes.
Step 5: Recording Student Answers
Decide how students will record their answers based on your preference.
Student Booklet
Open File #2.
Print pages 2 – 7 double-sided on the short edge.
Fold the pages in half vertically and staple them to create the booklet.
Student Worksheet
Open File #2.
Print page 1
Cut page one in half along the dotted line.
Google Forms (Self-Checking)
Open File #4.
Click on the provided link to access the google form or copy and paste the link and share with your students.
