This Math Identity Project is designed to help your students develop a positive and empowering math identity through exploring their emotions regarding math. This activity is perfect for back to school or at the beginning or ending of a new semester! Students will answer use the math emotions chart to help identify how they feel about math, then provide examples and explore why they feel that way. Students will then identify the emotion they wish to feel about math then come up with an action plan to get there. Once complete students will design their personal roadmap.

This activity is perfect for back to school or at the beginning or ending of a new semester! Students will answer use the math emotions chart to help identify how they feel about math, then provide examples and explore why they feel that way. Students will then identify the emotion they wish to feel about math then come up with an action plan to get there. Once complete students will design their personal roadmap.

 

A second part of the project has now been added. Part 2 provides students with more open-ended questions that allow them to think and reflect on how their own actions has impacted their current feelings about math for the current semester.
